Dr. Sloan is certified by the American Board of Surgery, and the U.S. Bariatrics Clinical Training Program. He has undergone continuing education in advanced laparoscopic techniques, and is certified as an instructor in advanced trauma life support. Dr. Sloan is a member of the Fort Wayne Medical Society, the Indiana State Medical Association, and is a fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery as well as the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Sloan has been featured in a number of publications, including The Journal of the Indiana State Medical Society, Contemporary Surgery, and The American Surgeon. He has also presented findings on endoscopically guided percutaneous gastrostomy to the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons. He is the holder of a medical device patent, with one other pending.
Dr. Dale Sloan is recognized as a superior weight loss surgeon by his peers. He has been recognized as a "Top Doc" in the Fort Wayne, Indiana area for several consecutive years. This award is based on annual voting by health care professionals in the area. Dr. Sloan also won the laparoscopic skills competition at the 2004 American College of Surgeons meeting, taking "Top Gun" honors in the event.
